Le Jugs de Judith (1972)
D: Eric Rohmer. Disappointing follow-up to Rohmer's "Claire's Knee". Centers on a shy French youth (Charles De Gaulle) who is repelled by his father's live-in girlfriend (Lotte Lenya), yet is oddly obsessed with her heavy, pendulous breasts. Charmingly dubbed into English with Lowell Weicker and Stockard Channing lending their considerable vocal talents.

Oxblood Blues (1965)
D: Duane Hickman. Hickman's (TV's Dobie Gillis) sole directorial foray is a disappointing melange of mystery and comedy. However, the fact that it is the only movie to feature Sammy Davis pere and fils makes it worth watching. The two Sammy's are co-owners of a shoeshine parlor in Roaring 20s Chicago; oddly disturbing circumstances force them to become detectives and track down a serial killer who is threatening their clientele. Davis, Jr.'s dead-on portrayal of socialite/slut Pamela Harriman is the high point. Notable also for the line, "Wrap that up for you, mister?" that swept college campuses in the late 60s. Watch for J. Fred Muggs's delightful cameo as a young J. Edgar Hoover.

Adolf und Eva: Forever Free (1975)
D: Michael J. Pollard. Pollard wrote, directed, and starred in this absorbing document of the last few days of Germany's unsuccessful Campaign for Freedom. Hitler (Pollard) and Eva Braun (Shirley Booth) are star-crossed lovers in a Berlin bunker. Historians may quibble with the film's portrayal of Adolf and Eva's murder by Satan (Scatman Crothers), but most viewers will find it absorbing and touching. A three-hankie outing, for sure.
