This edition features over 12,000 words of text that did not appear in any previous editions of the
novel. This never-before-seen material was cut before publication of the trade editions for space
considerations. Prior to this Hill House Limited Edition, the material only existed in Neil's original
typescript—which most readers would never have the opportunity to see. Now you have a chance to own Neil
Gaiman's masterpiece in the form the author originally intended. This edition of AMERICAN GODS is to
be considered the Author's Preferred Edition.
The AMERICAN GODS Lettered Edition is a truly unique production.
The box is a beautiful example of the art of veneer, using an exotic rosewood from South America. The
door, hand-fashioned from 5/8" thick black marble, is engraved with the title and author's name. Within
the box is a handsome velvet-lined drawer which pulls out on a smooth slide to display the
Lettered edition and the additional hardcover book.
The additional hardcover book that accompanies the Lettered Edition is actually two works in
one—in the tradition of the Ace Doubles (though, as you'll see in the photos, our
handsewn bindings will prove much more durable.)
The first title is: AN AMAZINGLY INCOMPLETE BIBLIOGRAPHY, written by Neil Gaiman.
In this work Neil provides a short guide to the reference works he used when writing
AMERICAN GODS—each annotated with his own inimitable comments.
The second title is: ONLY THE GODS ARE REAL: A Guide to the Gods in Neil Gaiman's
AMERICAN GODS, written by Renata Sancken. This is a truly comprehensive reference
work, it provides the context and history of every reference to the gods
and creatures of folklore that appear in Neil's novel.
This volume also includes a limitation page signed by both Neil Gaiman and Renata Sancken.
Limited to a single edition of just 52 copies, the book is a beautifully designed example of the art of bookbinding.
Each volume is lettered and signed by Neil Gaiman.
Collectors and readers alike will welcome the chance to add this handsome volume to their Neil Gaiman collection.
The limited edition of AMERICAN GODS features over 12,000 words (over 40 pages of new material) that did not appear in the trade edition of the book.
The book is bound and slipcased in a beautiful Japanese silk cloth.
The trim size of the book is 7" x 10"—significantly larger than the trade edition.
The text of the book has been completely reset and designed.
The text is printed in a two-color process (dark purple and black).
The slipcase features a die-cut on the front panel.
The slipcase features a unique ribbon-pull which allows easy removal of the book.
Retail price is $900. Shipping is FREE for domestic U.S. customers and international customers pay the difference between domestic U.S. shipping and international shipping.

Special Bonus for Ordering AMERICAN GODS
The Hill House edition of AMERICAN GODS is an object to treasure. But AMERICAN GODS is a book to be read—read avidly as befits Neil's masterpiece of modern fantasy. We're readers, too. We know what reading a book you love means. It means taking it on buses and trains. It means propping it up on coffee house tables. It means never letting it leave your side until you finish it. But—trust us—you're not going to want to risk getting coffee-stains on this edition or, God forbid, leaving it behind you on a bus.
So how does Hill House handle this conflict of interest? By printing a whole other edition of the book—one that, while still attractive, is designed to be read—and then providing it to all our customers for free!
That's right. We've produced a 6" x 9" paperback AMERICAN GODS Reader's Copy of Neil's final preferred text and make it available to every purchaser of the Limited Edition at no extra cost. No competition to win. No other shoe to drop. Just a free gift from the book-loving lunatics of Hill House to our customers.
