Award for Hill House edition of AMERICAN GODS by Neil Gaiman
Award for Most Collectable Book of the Year

We've received a number of inquiries about the Neil Gaiman Lettered Series—from people who want to know what it is.

The truth is, the Lettered Series was never even announced; it just grew like Topsy.

Most of our customers are aware of the Lettered Edition of AMERICAN GODS—the big box with the marble door.

In fact, the Lettered Edition of AMERICAN GODS was just awarded the coveted Barry Levin Collector's Award for Most Collectible Book of the Year. The column to the left features a photo of this massive—and much appreciated—award.

Once we started filling our orders for the Lettered edition, however, we felt a bit odd just sending the regular SCREENPLAY and MELINDA. So we came up with some elegant packaging, and, voila—the birth of the Lettered Series.

The Lettered SCREENPLAY is enclosed in a large black box, with deep blue satin padding on both sides of the interior. The SCREENPLAY is held in place with a string tie; the box is held closed with a string tie as well. The front label on the box features the limitation letter. To see all the elements, simply follow the link below to the Lettered Series page.

The Lettered MELINDA comes in a black linen-finish envelope. The front label is mounted on a matte-cut board which gives it a three-dimensional appearance.

Note that the two books—A SCREENPLAY and MELINDA are the same books as the numbered editions (with the exception of being Lettered); the difference is in the casing materials.

The Lettered Series works the same way as the regular Series. The price of the Lettered AMERICAN GODS is $900, as will be the Lettered Edition of NEVERWHERE. But you don't have to pay $1,800 to join the Series. Simply pay the price of the Lettered AMERICAN GODS, along with an additional $200 for the Lettered NEVERWHERE. You won't have to pay the balance of the price of NEVERWHERE until we're ready to ship.

In addition, you'll receive the Lettered SCREENPLAY. If you want to order MELINDA with a matching letter, the price is the same as our trade edition: $90. Lettered MELINDAS, however, are available only to Members of the Neil Gaiman Lettered Series; they cannot be purchased separately (nor can any edition of A SCREENPLAY, of course).

Please let us know if you have any other questions about the Lettered Series; and note that as of this writing, we have about a quarter of the 52 memberships left for purchase.
