THE LIGHT FANTASTIC
Hill House is continuing the publication
of the first twelve Discworld titles in hard cover facsimile format with the release of the second title,
THE LIGHT FANTASTIC. They will be completely identical to the true first
editions in every way (with the exception of a small notice on the copyright page).
In fact, we're using the same printer used by Colin Smythe.
The Light Fantastic (1986)
As Discworld moves towards a collision with a
malevolent red star, there is only one possible saviour,
Rincewind, who was last seen falling off the edge of the world.

THE COLOUR OF MAGIC
On November 23, 1983, Colin Smythe, Limited published THE COLOUR OF MAGIC—the first of Terry Pratchett's Discworld
novels. The first printing of this book was just 506 copies. Today, one of these 506 books would bring between $12,000 and $16,000
in the rare book market.
Now, however, you don't have to mortgage the house or sell your car to get your very own copy of THE COLOUR
OF MAGIC—exactly as it appeared on that fateful date in 1983.
Our facsimile edition of THE COLOUR OF MAGIC is identical in every respect to the original—in fact, we're using the same
printer used by Colin Smythe.
The Colour of Magic (1983)
On a world moving on the back of a giant turtle, an
expedition sets out led by Rincewind, an
inept wizard, a naïve tourist with luggage moving on hundreds
of little legs, dragons who exist only if you believe in them...

Terry Pratchett sold his first story when he was thirteen, which earned him enough money to buy a
second-hand typewriter. His first novel, a humorous fantasy entitled THE CARPET PEOPLE,
appeared in 1971 from the publisher Colin Smythe. Terry worked for many years as a journalist and press
officer, writing in his spare time and publishing a number of novels, including his first Discworld
novel, THE COLOR OF MAGIC, in 1983. In 1987 he turned to writing full time, and has not looked back
since. To date there are a total of 33 books in the Discworld series, of which three (so far) are written
for children. The first of these, THE AMAZING MAURICE AND HIS EDUCATED RODENTS, won the Carnegie
Medal. A non-Discworld book, GOOD OMENS, his 1990 collaboration with Neil Gaiman, has been a
longtime bestseller, was reissued in hardcover by William Morrow in early 2006.
